An homage to “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, the Shoeless Jam is a music and arts festival held every August that celebrates the sights and sounds that make up Greenville’s culture. From soaring gospel acts, to searing blues players, to rock and soul bands that get the audience moving, there’s something for almost any ear. Local artisans and food trucks get in on the action, as well, showing off their works and serving food to hungry festival-goers. It all takes place over the course of two days, and is a community event you certainly do not want to miss, whether you’re a music fan, a lover of the arts, or a foodie.
An American take on the German tradition, Greenville’s Oktoberfest takes place in late September and early October. Featuring the always excellent combination of “music, beer, and bratwurst,” this event is a great chance to get together with friends and family to celebrate the end of summer and the coming of autumn. Large outdoor tents and fun contests are also a major part of this festival, ensuring you can enjoy the last of summer-like weather with panache.
Euphoria is four-day event that takes place every September and combines food, drink, and music. Award-winning chefs and food trucks, sommeliers, and musicians all offer one-of-a-kind opportunities to appreciate the combination of food and art. Guests can choose from several different ticketing packages for the various sub-events that take place at Euphoria, so be sure to assess the options before choosing one.
Christmas is a festive time, and there’s few better ways to ring in the giving season than with a tree lighting. Bob Jones University has its own Christmas lighting ceremony, usually in early December. The student body and Greenville community come together on this evening to switch on more than 100,000 lights. Caroling is also a part of the tradition here, with people gathering in front of Rodeheaver Auditorium to sing classic songs of the season. This event is followed by a musical performance, such as a concert by a symphonic band, usually inside of Rodeheaver Auditorium. If you are looking to get into the spirit of the season, this is a great way to do it.
As you can see, Greenville and Bob Jones University events offer plenty of ways to stay entertained. Keep an eye out for other events throughout the year as well!
